From there, the Buddhist Darshan Tour continues to Pokhara, the city of lakes and another major tourist hub of Nepal, which also offers several significant Buddhist sites to visit. The journey is further enriched by natural wonders such as Davis Falls, Seti Gorge, and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, along with thrilling activities like paragliding, boating, kayaking, and many more, adding to the overall excitement.
The main objective of this 10-day Buddhist Darshan Tour is to visit some of the most popular and sacred monasteries in Nepal. A warm Namaste and welcome to the beautiful country of the majestic Himalayas and lush hills! Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our airport representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After checking into the hotel, you can take a pleasing stroll in the vibrant city of Thamel. Lastly, end the day with a complimentary dinner hosted by Adventure Travels and Treks, along with a brief session afterward.
Today, you will visit several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley, the capital city of Nepal, including Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Swaymbhunath Stupa, the tri-city of ancient Durbar Squares such as Basantapur, Bhaktapur, and Patan. The day begins earlier as you head to Swaymbhunath, the infamous Monkey Temple, in the morning to catch a 360-degree view of the entire Kathmandu Valley, concluding with a visit to Patan, a city of fine arts, Nepali species, and interesting alleyways.
This day you will head to another stunning tourist destination in Nepal, Pokhara, famous for its serene lakes and otherworldly backdrops of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, followed by the unique Machhapuchhre (fishtail). The drive is along the bank of the Trishuli River from Kathmandu, giving you a scenic experience of traditional villages, lush hills, and a roaring stream via the Prithivi Highway, which usually lasts for 6-7 hours or more depending on the traffic of the day.
The fourth day of the Buddhist Darshan Tour is fully allocated to exploring Pokhara city, for which you will take a short side hike to the beautiful Sarangkot viewpoint to admire the expansive view of the surrounding Himalayas and hills, and later on visit the Tal Barahi Temple, World Peace Pagoda, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, International Mountain Museum, Seti Gorge, and others. At the end of the day, take a leisurely stroll around Phewa Lake and enjoy local delicacies in nearby shops, cafes, and nightlife before a cozy night.
The trip to the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, the proponent of Buddhism, adds much to the cultural, religious, and spiritual dimension of the 10-day Buddhist Darshan Tour, which takes about 7 hours. If you began the drive early in the morning, around 6 a.m., you would have already made it to the Lumbini premises, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites, by afternoon, leaving you with ample time to explore the area and its iconic Maya Devi temple, Lumbini Garden, and Buddhist monasteries in the serene ambiance of the Terai region of Nepal.
As usual, the journey begins early in the morning to explore the ancient capital city of Kapilvastu, Tilaurakot, also known as the kingdom of the Shakya clan, into which Lord Buddha was born, 27 km to the west of Lumbini. The visit here takes you back to the century to finally return to Lumbini and rest for the night!
On this day, you will move forward to the heart of the jungle of Nepal, the Chitwan National Park, yet another UNESCO World Heritage-listed natural landmark of the country boasting five of the major big mammals such as the Bengal royal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, Asian elephant, Gharial crocodile, and sloth bear, which can be completed in about 3 hours of driving, covering 90 km from Lumbini. It would be amazing to come across such spectacular greenery of the Terai region in southern Nepal, watch sunsets from the Rapti River, or take a guided tour of the national park area before calling it a day in the lodges, resorts, or homestays opened by locals after enjoying a warming welcome to the area with traditional Tharu dance and music.
The day begins with a hearty breakfast to take yourself on the jungle safari to choose from Jeep and elephant back riding in the tranquil surroundings to observe wide ranges of wildlife, including endangered species like Marash Mugger, Gharial, one-horned rhinoceros, royal Bengal tiger, and many more. A wildlife specialist leading a jungle excursion provides you with the necessary insight into unique plants and animals along with cultural guidance into the Tharu community along the Rapti River to enjoy canoeing and also bathing activities in the elephant breeding center.
This day denotes that you are almost at the end of the Buddhist Darshan Tour as you drive back to Kathmandu through the Prithvi Highway. En route, you can stop to taste the infamous “Malekhu ko Maccha” fish from the river named Malekhu. The joyous ride comes to an end in 5–6 hours. Check in to your designated hotel and unwind yourself in the vibrant city of Thamel, taking more time to pack some souvenirs in the afternoon.
The time has come to finally bid farewell to the country abundant in towering hills and the Himalayas. Our airport representative will transfer you to the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport) three hours prior to your scheduled flight.
